The SFPA committee comprises a group of parents, the Headmaster, the Bursar and three members of the teaching staff. The purpose of the SFPA is to organise social events for parents at the school. Our aim is to run at least one event each term and try to plan a varied programme appealing to as many parents as possible.
Events are planned to try to encourage all parents to enjoy their association with the school. Past events have been excellent both in content and value. Recently the programme has included a Fashion Show, a Race night, an Italian Serenade, a Pimms tent on sports day, discos for the children and pumpkins at Halloween. At Christmas, as well as the “Glühwein and Carols” for parents, friends and staff, pantomime tickets are made available for families to attend a matinée performance in one of the Cambridge theatres. Every two years we organise the highly successful St Faith’s Summer Ball in the marquee with a band and entertainment, with an Summer Party in the alternate years.
The SFPA aims to ensure that activities are good value for money, cover their costs and, where possible, raise some funds for special equipment for the School that could not otherwise be provided. Most recently funds have provided outside table tennis tables, climbing equipment for the children’s play areas, steel pans for the band and a Compustitch machine which embroiders fabrics to designs worked out on computer software by the children.
All SFPA activities are widely publicised to parents through the Headmaster’s newsletter, flyers and posters around the School. For more information about any of these parents may contact the School Office who will put them in touch with a committee member as necessary. The SFPA depends on the valuable help of parent and staff volunteers both during the events and with preparation beforehand, while encouraging as many participants as possible.
